Stars who were athletes before starting their careers

Moreover, it doesn’t matter how big the role is or how much text there is, whether the athlete plays himself or is one of the main characters who is in no way connected with the athlete himself. "RG" decided to gather the most famous athletes who appeared on the big screen.

Vladimir Klitschko - boxing

The famous Ukrainian boxer Vladimir Klitschko could not help but end up in our ranking. He managed to "light up" in several popular films, for example, in "Handsome" and "Handsome" 2 with Til Schweiger in the title role. Schweiger is a good friend of Klitschko, and therefore it is quite understandable why he invited the boxer to play a small role. Klitschko plays himself in the film. Vladimir Klitschko also appeared in the film "Ocean's 11". He and another, no less famous boxer, Lennox Lewis, fought in a Las Vegas casino. Klitschko Jr.'s latest film work is a man boxing a punching bag in "Blood and Sweat: Anabolics."

Vinnie Jones - football

Few people remember now, but Vinnie Jones - the star of Guy Ritchie's films - was a famous football player, famous for his tough character. During his sporting career, Jones played for teams including Wimbledon, Leeds United, Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea. In addition, he represented the Wales national team, for which he played 9 matches. He was punished many times for his rough play, with Vinnie Jones once receiving a yellow card 3 (!) seconds after he entered the field. After Vinnie Jones retired from sports, he began to actively act in films. He has worked in the films “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”, “ Big jackpot", "Gone in 60 Seconds", "Password "Swordfish"", "Eurotrip", "X-Men", "Escape Plan" and many others. Almost everywhere Jones played the role of a tough guy who prefers to solve cases by force.

Eric Cantona - football

The star of English Manchester United can boast of roles in French films little known in Russia. However, one cannot fail to mention the film "Elizabeth", a historical film about the life of Queen Elizabeth I of England. Cantona played the role of Monsignor de Foix, and the film itself was nominated for an Oscar, a BAFTA award and a Golden Globe. Another picture with Canton’s participation that you can pay attention to is the French film “Second Wind”. Cantona's partner in this film was the incomparable Monica Bellucci. The football player got the role of a bodyguard.

Michael Schumacher - Formula 1

"The Red Baron" is remembered by many not only for its mind-blowing victories, but also for its role in the film "Asterix on Olympic Games ah." Schummi played the chariot driver Shumiks, who wins the race. The great driver performed in his usual role - he went out into the distance and left all his rivals behind with virtually no problems. And coach Schumacher was played by Jean Toddt, president of the International Automobile Federation and former chief sportsman director of the Ferrari Formula 1 team, in which Schumacher shone. By the way, many people played in this film. famous athletes- tennis player Amelie Mauresmo, basketball player Tony Parker and wrestler Nathan Jones.

Zinedine Zidane - football

In the already mentioned film “Asterix at the Olympic Games,” the French football star Zinedine Zidane appeared in a small but rather bright role. Image and appearance legends deserve special attention: long black hair - but we are used to seeing Zidane with a completely different hairstyle, eyes lined with black mascara and, of course, Egyptian clothes.

Nikolay Valuev - boxing

Nikolai Valuev, unlike many of his colleagues in sports, not only starred in films, but also played main role in one of the films. The 40-year-old athlete has roles in several films, but perhaps the most famous is Yegor Golovin from “The Stone Head.” The hero is a boxer who has to return to the ring after a car accident. The film was directed by famous director Philip Yankovsky. Valuev was accompanied by actress Oksana Fandera. The film itself received the main prize at the Window to Europe film festival.

Dmitry Nosov - judo

Winner of the bronze medal of the Olympic Games in Athens, Dmitry Nosov, who was remembered by everyone for his selfless performance, came out on the tatami with a severe injury, and played one of the main roles in the film “The Path.” Action movie dedicated eternal theme choosing the right path. By the way, in addition to Nosov, boxer Nikolai Valuev, gymnast Irina Chashchina, World Champion in Ultimate Fighting Oleg Taktarov and others played in the film.

Dennis Rodman - basketball

Extravagant basketball player Dennis Rodman has repeatedly delighted his fans with his appearances on the big screen. He played in the films “Kids”, “Eddie”, “The Avengers”, “Super Agent Simon”. But the most memorable was the character named Yaz from the movie "Colony". This is one of the main roles in the film, where in addition to Rodman, such actors as Jean-Claude Van Damme and Mickey Rourke played. True, Rodman himself and his participation in the film were awarded the “Golden Raspberry” - as the worst supporting actor, the worst new star and worst on-screen couple (together with Van Damme).

Mike Tyson - boxing

Our list wouldn't be complete without Iron Mike. He has played in more than 55 different films and TV series: such as “Slaughter Revenge”, “Scary Movie 5”, “The Hangover 2: From Vegas to Bangkok”, “The Hangover”, “Rocky Balboa”, “Final Finish” ". But most often everyone remembers Tyson in the movie “Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles.” Here, as in almost all of his films, Tyson played himself.

Djibril Cissé - football

French footballer Djibril Cissé appeared in the cult movie about taxi driver Daniel Morales, written by Luc Besson. Cisse appears, however, briefly in the last - fourth part of the comedy. And he played - naturally - himself: footballer Djibril Cissé, who moved to Olympique Marseille. In addition, Cissé starred in several TV series filmed in France.

Alexey Morozov, Darius Kasparaitis, Jaromir Jagr, Andrey Nikolishin - hockey

Four world-famous hockey players - Morozov, Kasparaitis, Jagr and Nikolishin - appeared in one of the episodes of the film "Brother-2". All athletes played themselves in the film. By the way, at that time Morozov and Kasparaitis played together on the same team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Morozov appeared in the film not only by himself, but also on a poster in the room of one of the film's heroes, Konstantin Gromov.

Fedor Emelianenko - MMA

Four-time world champion in MMA heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko could not help but play some cool and strong guy. So far he has a role in only one film, but who knows, maybe this is just the beginning. Emelianenko played a special forces soldier named Fedor in the film “The Salamander Key.” Besides him, Rutger Hauer and Michael Madsen starred in the film - a very solid company.

Bonus

There are also those athletes whose sports component of life has long been forgotten. For everyone, they are, first and foremost, actors who regularly appear on the big screen. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a multiple winner of the Mr. Olympia title and a famous bodybuilder, Jason Statham took 12th place at the World Diving Championships, “cool Walker” Chuck Norris is a martial artist, Jean-Claude Van Damme is a European champion in karate and kickboxing 1979 middleweight among professionals, the very first “Tarzan” Johnny Weissmuller is a five-time Olympic champion, Jet Li is a wushu master, Dolph Lundgren was the captain of the Swedish karate team, and Steven Seagal has 7th dan in aikido aikikai.

The Olympic champions working in the State Duma are not going to return to sports, and the artists are not going to return to the stage: they are again running for parliament, according to lists and constituencies. The ranks of Duma celebrities will be replenished with television stars

It’s easier in the Duma than in a sports club

Deputies-athletes do not want to leave politics - they all intend to take part in the elections of the new convocation of the State Duma which will take place on September 18. All athletes from United Russia» have already submitted an application to participate in the preliminary voting (primaries) of the party.

Information about the participants in the primaries and the method of their nomination (by list or single-member constituency), scheduled for May 22, is published on the party’s website, applications are accepted from the beginning of March to April 10. The United Russia primaries are a mandatory procedure for intra-party voting to select candidates for deputies.

Former boxer Nikolai Valuev will run for office Bryansk region in a single-mandate constituency and list, three-time Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Alexander Karelin - single-mandate from the Novosibirsk region, President of the Russian Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretyak - from the Ulyanovsk region (according to the list and district), speed skater Svetlana Zhurova - from the Leningrad region (in constituency and list), and tennis player Marat Safin - from the Nizhny Novgorod region (according to information on the website of the regional branch of the party). Duma Paralympians Mikhail Terentyev (Moscow region, list) and Rima Batalova from Bashkortostan (list and district) will also be nominated.

LDPR deputy, Olympic bronze medalist in judo Dmitry Nosov also decided to take part in the preliminary voting of United Russia - as a single-mandate candidate in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The LDPR leadership had previously not approved the deputy’s participation in the September 2015 arrest of rapper Guf in Krasnoyarsk on suspicion of drug use. Vice-speaker of the LDPR, Igor Lebedev, explained then that Nosov’s actions have nothing to do with the party, but are “personal PR,” and “he will no longer be a deputy from the LDPR.” Athletes who have political weight “can be better heard by children and parents,” Zhurov motivates his decision to remain in the State Duma. The status of a deputy is very helpful in the work of popularizing hockey, Tretyak noted to the R-Sport agency.

The most active legislator among the deputies-athletes was Batalova from the Committee on Sports and Youth Affairs, who signed 96 bills on the most different topics— from creating conditions for unimpeded access for people with disabilities to residential infrastructure to providing the Bank of Russia with a mechanism to support the interbank lending market, as follows from the information presented on the State Duma website. Her committee colleague Valuev (42 bills), in addition to projects on the development of sports, was involved in anti-alcohol and anti-drug initiatives. A significant part of Zhurova’s proposals (56 projects) from the international committee relate to supporting culture.

Nosov, a member of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, introduced mainly bills aimed at combating the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs (32 initiatives in total). Safin from the Committee for Public Organizations dealt with the problems of indigenous small peoples and control over the activities of non-profit organizations - foreign agents (19 projects).

Cultural initiative

All Duma cultural figures from United Russia will also participate in the primaries. Applications were submitted by singer Joseph Kobzon (on the list from the Trans-Baikal Territory), opera singer Maria Maksakova-Igenbergs (on the list and on the majority constituency in St. Petersburg), actress Maria Kozhevnikova (on the list from the Vologda region). Director Stanislav Govorukhin is also planning to run, his representative told RBC.

The deputy from A Just Russia, actress Elena Drapeko (on the list and single-mandate constituency in St. Petersburg) and the representative of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, director Vladimir Bortko (on the constituency in St. Petersburg) will also be re-elected to the new Duma. They told RBC about this.

There are still shortcomings in the field of cultural protection, Drapeko explains his desire to continue working in the Duma. “Big changes, good or bad, await our country in the near future. And I would like to participate in this,” says Bortko.

The record holder for the number of bills signed is Maria Kozhevnikova, a deputy from the Culture Committee. She put her name under 101 short stories on various topics - from mortgages to the circulation of ethyl alcohol. Almost always these are collective bills of United Russia members, signed by dozens of deputies. In second place is Elena Drapeko (now she is the first deputy chairman of the culture committee), who signed 65 bills, most of them related to her profile. Bortko, together with his colleagues, introduced only seven initiatives, among them a proposal to ratify the article on illicit enrichment of the UN Convention against Corruption.

Yuri Kara intends to join his fellow directors in the new Duma. He applied to participate in the United Russia primaries on the list in Moscow. Kara often agreed with the position of the authorities. In 2014, Kara signed a letter in support of the president's policies in Ukraine. Kara also proposed banning the distribution of American films in Russia after the United States imposed sanctions. His proposal was supported by Govorukhin. Having been blacklisted by the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, Kara said that he was proud of it.

Deputies from the cultural sphere sometimes behave more freely in their public statements than their colleagues in the Duma. Maksakova in the summer of 2014, during her speech at a meeting of the State Duma, introduced a law banning the propaganda of homosexuality, although a year earlier she voted for its adoption.

After the publication of an investigation into the family of Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika in winter by the Anti-Corruption Foundation of Alexei Navalny, Joseph Kobzon sought to study the facts presented and sent a request to the Investigative Committee regarding one of the episodes of the investigation.

People from TV

The author plans to continue working in the Duma analytical program on the TV Center channel, chairman of the international committee Alexey Pushkov. He is going to be elected to the new Duma on the list in the Perm Territory. The main speaker of the State Duma on international policy, Pushkov, who was included in the sanctions list, signed only four bills, including those on NGOs - foreign agents and a ban on the production of low-alcohol energy drinks.

TV presenter Oksana Pushkina also decided to join the parliamentary ranks - they also submitted applications to participate in primaries

Pyotr Tolstoy, the great-great-grandson of the writer Leo Tolstoy, hosted the final program “Sunday Time” for seven years, and led pre-election debates during the 2011 Duma elections and the 2012 presidential elections. IN recent years hosts talk shows “Time will tell” and “Politics”. In February of this year, Tolstoy was elected to the supreme council of United Russia.

“I constantly say that the political class must learn to clearly and clearly convey its thoughts to voters. I want to try to put this idea into practice myself,” he explained to RBC. He will be elected to the Duma according to a list and a single-mandate constituency in Moscow.

Pushkina, author and host of the “Women’s View” program, applied to participate in the primaries in the Moscow region in a single-mandate constituency and list. In June 2015, on the recommendation of the Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov, she was appointed to the post of Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Moscow Region. Pushkina’s work, as she admitted, “lacks certain laws and amendments” (quote from the website of the United Russia branch in the Moscow region).

At the United Russia primaries, the deputy general director of VGTRK, TV presenter Evgeniy Revenko, also submitted documents to the Voronezh branch of the party. He plans to be elected on a regional list.

For athletes and artists, getting into the State Duma is an opportunity to become part of the establishment, to capitalize their personal fame into status achievements, explains political consultant Valentin Bianki. According to him, the authorities need famous people because it is easier to get a well-known person to vote: although it is not easy to convert fame into a motive for voting, it is very difficult for politicians to achieve a level of fame comparable to athletes and artists.

If famous person runs in a single-mandate constituency, he has obligations to half a million voters, and his star status can help solve not only social, but also fundamental lobbying issues, says political scientist Gleb Kuznetsov. “And if a celebrity is nominated to parliament on a list, then he will feel less responsibility, and this is often just selling his face,” believes Kuznetsov.

The Soviet Union could be proud not only of regular successes at the Olympics and world championships, but also of the appearance of the first feature film about the legendary athlete. Back in 1957, “The Fighter and” was released, which told about the, in many ways, not so much stellar as tragic life of the wrestler Ivan Poddubny. He was played by Stanislav Chekan. In 1985, Kazakhfilm created another film about the unofficial world champion late XIX- the beginning of the 20th century by Poddubny, called “Know Ours.” But he did not receive much attention. But the main role was played by Dmitry Zolotukhin, who became famous in the dilogy about Peter I.

The story of such a controversial figure for contemporaries as a wrestler, one of whose nicknames was “Ivan Zhelezny,” was continued in Russian cinema. Mikhail Porechenkov became the “Champion of Champions” in the 2014 film “Poddubny”. “Recognized as one of the masterpieces of Soviet dramatic cinema of the 70s” White snow Russia”, dedicated to the departed undefeated chess king Alexander Alekhine. He did not go unnoticed because the role of Alekhine was played by another Alexander - Mikhailov, who became famous after the film “Love and Doves”.

Bobrov once, Bobrov two

Several films, combined with a modern film so famous in the world, turned out to be original harbingers of “Legend No. 17” big sport character like Vsevolod Bobrov. In the first, filmed in 1964 by Vladimir Basov and called simply “Hockey Players,” the role of the prima of hockey and football of the post-war years in the film, Duganov, was played by Vyacheslav Shalevich.

In 1991, Vsevolod Bobrov in the film “My Best Friend is General Vasily, Son of Joseph” will be played by Boris Shcherbakov. 22 years later, the same Shcherbakov will play the role of Valery Kharlamov’s father in “No. 17.” And the great Bobrov “will be” Alexander Yakovlev, whose first role was an embassy guard in the cult television series of the 70s about Stirlitz.

In addition to Shcherbakov and Yakovlev, Oleg Menshikov also participated in “Legend,” whose role is the national team coach Anatoly Tarasov. North American NHL stars Bobby Clarke and Phil Esposito were played by American Andrei Runzo and German Otto Goetz. And a large team less famous than Menshikov and Kozlovsky Russian actors, “performed the duties” of the players of the Union national team of those years - Vladislav Tretyak (Alexander Pakhomov), Alexander Gusev (Alexander Lobanov), Alexander Maltsev (Denis Serdyukov), Vladimir Petrov (Artem Fedotov), Boris Mikhailov (Timur Efremenkov). It is interesting that his son and namesake appeared on the stage in the role of Alexander Ragulin.

From Kharlamov to Kovalchuk

By the way, “Legend” is considered a kind of response to “Valery Kharlamov. Extra time" with Alexey Chadov. The winning coaches of the national team of different years, Tarasov and Viktor Tikhonov, were played in “Extra Time” by Vladimir Sterzhakov and Vladimir Kuznetsov. And Tretyak, Mikhailov and Petrova - Dmitry Arosyev, Kirill Karo and Sergey Zharkov. It is worth remembering the “Hockey Games” about the 72 Super Series between the national teams of the USSR and Canada. Young and aged Bobrov were shown in it, respectively, by Sergey Larin and Leonid Timtsunik, Tarasova by Mikhail Filippov and Sergey Gazarov, and Kharlamov and Tretyak by Gleb Isakov and Andrey Voroshilov.

The triumph of the Russian team at the Olympics in Sochi inspired actor Dmitry Dyuzhev, famous from the TV series “Brigade,” to create a film with the victorious title “Champions.” The director decided to make his heroes seven famous Russian athletes, medalists and champions of the Olympic Games and world championships. Biathlon father and son with the same names Nikolai Kruglov in Dyuzhev’s tape turned out to be Andrei Smolyakov and Mark Bogatyrev. Figure skaters Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze - Tatyana Arntgolts and Konstantin Kryukov. Snowboarder Ekaterina Ilyukhina was played by Taisiya Vilkova, and speed skater Svetlana Zhurova was played by her namesake Khodchenkova. Finally, the role of the idol of thousands of young Russian hockey players, Ilya Kovalchuk, went to ex-Kharlamov, Alexey Chadov.

Harry Potter's Gold

"Bright athletes are bright." Western directors try to work according to such a system, and over time they also began to “” idolize sports fans. Thus, the legendary boxer Mohammed Ali in Michael Mann's film "Ali" was played by the popular Hollywood film actor Will Smith. And his colleague Michael Jai White created the on-screen image of another famous superboxer from the USA - Mike Tyson.

The hockey theme in Hollywood was continued by Kurt Russell, coach Herb Brooks, whose team - the US team - sensationally won against the then almost invincible Soviet team and won the title of champion of the 1980 Olympics. The film about Brooks and, dubbed in the USA “Miracle on Ice”, was called “Miracle”. The tolerant American film empire did not ignore the sensational story of the transsexual Renee Richards, born under the name Richard Raskind. This athlete, whose role in Anthony Page’s film “Second Serve” was given to Vanessa Redgrave, turned out to be the only one in the world of tennis who managed to perform in the women’s category of the official tournament.

Europe also supported the Americans: two stories about the champions of the past appeared on the continent. In Germany, in particular, the drama “Max Schmeling: Reich Fighter” was released about the world champion among professional boxers of the early 30s. And in Great Britain they decided to glorify two-time Olympic champion Sir Sebastian Coe. It is curious that actor Daniel Radcliffe, who once played Harry Potter, was invited to play the role of track and field athlete Koe in the film “Gold.” But the boxer Schmeling was played by another German ring pro - the 88 champion Henry Maske.

On September 12, Jason Statham, a British actor who, however, does not have an acting education, celebrates his birthday. Statham is a professional diver who was a member of the Great Britain team and also made the Olympic team in 1988. But fate would have it that director Guy Ritchie noticed Jason and invited him to his film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. After this, Statham immediately became a star.

Statham is not the only one who came to cinema from sports. Let us also remember the actors who were athletes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

The legendary "Terminator" Arnold Schwarzenegger is a professional bodybuilder. He began his sports career at the age of 14. He worked out every day, pumped up his muscle mass, and soon his labors bore fruit - he became the winner of the “Mr. Europe” competition among juniors. He then became the youngest Mr. Universe. By 1968, he had won all the bodybuilding championships in Europe and continued his career in the USA. In 1980, Arnold completed his participation in the competition, having made a significant contribution to the popularization of bodybuilding. He began acting in films while still an athlete. Success came to Schwarzenegger after the release of the film “Conan the Barbarian”.

Jean-Claude Van Damme

Before succeeding in films, Jean-Claude Van Damme became the European middleweight champion in karate and kickboxing in 1979. He participated in many competitions and during his fighting career had 22 fights, of which he won 20 and lost only 2 times, and then by decision of the judges. It’s interesting that for some time Van Damme’s partner in training fights was Chuck Norris. In 1978, Van Damme also became the absolute European bodybuilding champion. Jean-Claude received his first full-fledged film role in 1986 in the film “No Retreat, No Surrender,” and became a star after participating in the film “Bloodsport.”

Mickey Rourke

Mickey Rourke has been a daredevil since childhood and started fights in the streets. He soon found a place where he could release his energy - the boxing ring. The future actor became a regular at the famous boxing club on 5th Street in Miami Beach. He took part in many competitions and often won victories. However, he spent the money he earned from winnings on drugs, so he had to give up his sports career. Then Mickey got the idea to become an actor. He entered Lee Strasberg's acting studio and gradually began acting in cameo roles. Real success came to him after the film “9 1/2 Weeks”.

Vinnie Jones

Guy Ritchie's favorite actor Vinnie Jones was a professional footballer and played for clubs such as Chelsea, Sheffield United, Leeds and Wimbledon (he was team captain in the latter). He started playing football as a child. Although he was not accepted into the team right away, considering him too short. But Jones soon returned to the sport and became successful. During his career, he played 384 official matches and scored 33 goals. At the age of 33, Jones retired from the sport. At the same time, he had a very scandalous reputation. It was she who interested director Guy Ritchie, who invited Vinnie Jones to his film “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” after which he received offers to star in blockbusters.

Gina Carano

Gina Carano has also been passionate about sports since childhood. She played basketball in school and won a state championship. After school, she began training in Thai boxing. She fought 14 fights, of which she won 12. Gina was noticed and invited to participate in the first sanctioned women's mixed rules fight - MMA. In MMA, Carano had 8 fights, of which she won all but the last. She has been called the face of women's MMA. In 2002, Gina's acting career began. At first, she starred in small roles in films and TV series. Success came to her after her role in Steven Soderbergh's film Knockout.

Estella Warren

Estella Warren was a synchronized swimmer, and at the age of 12 she joined the Canadian national team. Beautiful girl attracted the attention of not only coaches, but also modeling agencies. After that, Warren successfully combined sports and modeling professions. She became the national champion three times and won a bronze medal at the 1995 World Championships. However, in 1996, she was given a choice - to prepare for the Olympics or to be a model. The girl chose the second. Her debut took place in the low-budget film “Perfume”, and her popularity came after the films “Racer” and “Planet of the Apes”.

Oleg Taktarov

And among our movie stars there are former athletes. However, Oleg Taktarov successfully acts not only in Russia, but also in Hollywood. In the nineties, he won the Ultimate Fighting Tournament in Riga. Then he went to America and became famous there as a fighter. He had 24 fights in the USA and Japan. After that, the directors noticed him. He starred in such films as Air Force One, Rollerball, Masters of the Night, Predators and the TV series Alias and NCIS.

Even at the beginning of the last century, an actor had to not only be able to create the image of his hero, but also sing and dance. Let us remember, for example, the great Charlie Chaplin, who was an actor, a screenwriter, a director, and a composer who wrote amazing melodies for his films. Until about the 60s, the combination of singer, dancer and actor was normal. It is enough to recall the names of Lyubov Orlova, Marlene Dietrich, Marika Rekk, Kalman Latabar and many others. Films with their participation entered the golden fund of world cinema, concerts and performances attracted full houses, and recordings sold out within a few months.

In the second half of the last century, universality was perceived rather as an exception. But even then there were world-class stars about whom it was impossible to say which specialty was the leading one for them. Films with Raphael's participation were seen by almost the whole of Europe, but he always considered and still considers himself, first and foremost, a singer. By the way, this legendary Spaniard also found himself on television, becoming the host of one of the most popular cultural programs in Spain.

In the 60s, concerts of the wonderful Chilean singer Violeta Parra were held in Paris with great success. An exhibition of her paintings was also held at the same time. Violeta was then considered a left-wing songwriter, so ruling classes her own country did not favor her much. But she wrote a lot wonderful songs and became a true star of her genre. And the best museums in the world and owners of private collections are willing to pay eye-popping prices for her paintings and ceramics.

IN beginning of XXI centuries, there are also universal stars. Oddly enough, but the situation is modern world, which seems to require specialization, at the same time encourages people to express themselves in the most different areas. Fashion changes very quickly, and what talented person achieved success does not guarantee him stability in the future. Something else needs to be found. One of the most bright examples all-round star - Jennifer Lopez. A singer and actress, but at the same time a successful businesswoman who has created her own brand.

Shakira is gradually starting her career as a film actress - one of the most popular Latin American singers. It has been known for a long time that she is going to play an Indian goddess in a new 3D film.

Athletes often strive to “change their role.” Julio Iglesias started out as a football player and for a long time combined his favorite sport with performing on stage. He was once a football player and one of the outstanding opera singers- Zurab Sotkilava, who started playing back in Soviet era in the Tbilisi Dynamo, and then became a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater.

Outstanding Hong Kong and American actor Jackie Chan began in Hong Kong as a martial artist. He first appeared in films as a stuntman. However, it turned out that he has considerable acting talent. His cinematic career was dizzying, and over the years of his work in cinema he managed to prove himself both as a director and as a screenwriter.

One of the most prominent actors of modern Russian cinema is Nikolai Valuev. He began his career as an athlete and basketball player, then decided to take up boxing - and it was in this form that he reached the top. But now we see him more often in films than in the ring, and he plays not only in action films. By the way, Nikolai successfully combines his work in cinema with social activities. He was elected to the State Duma, managing to prove himself as a politician.
