GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPETITION: Popularization of choral creativity. Supporting existing choirs, showing their achievements at the international level. Acquaintance and opportunity to compare choral groups around the world, exchange of choral literature different countries, familiarization with musical styles, traditions, interpretations and vocal-choral technique. Also, the goals of the competition are: preservation and development of the traditions of the multinational culture of the Russian Federation; introducing participants to the richness of the choral art of the peoples of the world; increasing the professional level of team leaders; holding master classes, creative meetings and round tables for managers; development among young people of tolerance and adequate understanding of other cultures, ways of self-expression and manifestation of human individuality; exchange of experience between teams, managers and teachers, support of constant creative contacts between them, their unification within the framework of the festival movement; creating an atmosphere for professional communication between competition participants, exchange of experience and repertoire; attracting producers and concert organizers for subsequent contacts with groups participating in the competition, for organizing tours and participation in foreign festivals, competitions and concerts; attracting attention from government, international, commercial and public organizations to problems creative teams and performers; coverage of the creativity of children and youth in the media.

The competition will include creative meetings, master classes, a fair of song phonograms, an excursion program around Moscow and nearby palaces and suburbs, visits to theaters, museums, an award ceremony for participants and a Gala concert of the competition.

COMPETITION NOMINATIONS

1. Children's choirs, 2. Men's choirs, 3. Women's choirs, 4. Mixed choirs, 5. Boys and youth choirs, 6. Chamber choirs (choirs from 13 to 24 people take part), 7. Vocal ensembles(women's, men's, mixed and children's ensembles from 3 to 12 people take part)

Up to 6 years; from 7 to 8 years; from 9 to 10 years; from 11 to 12 years old; from 13 to 15 years old; from 16 to 18 years old; from 18 to 25 years old; over 25 years old; mixed group.

In the team of each age category No more than 30% of participants are allowed to be younger or older than the specified age limits. For example, in a team declared in the age category “9-10 years”, up to 30% of the composition may be under 9 years old or over 10 years old.

TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT.

Participants in all nominations can perform competitive works with live musical accompaniment or have phonograms on a USB drive (flash drive) or CD in audio format (WAV/WAVE or MP3), signed as follows: the name of the track, the band or the name of the soloist (for example: “ Russian dance", ans. Kalinka). There should be no other files on the USB drive or CD other than the competition program.

The organizing committee has the right to post festival photo and video materials of groups on the global Internet and use them in promotional products without the consent of the group or individual performer.

SPEECH PROGRAM: Each group participating in the competition presents a performance program consisting of diverse works with a total duration of 8 to 15 minutes.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Degree of difficulty of the program, intonation, accuracy of execution of the musical text, rhythm, tempo, structure, ensemble, dynamics, sense of style, stylistic fidelity, emotionality, expressiveness, general impression, disclosure of content, presentation, appearance(costumes), artistry.

JURY: The composition of the jury, headed by the chairman, is formed and approved by the organizing committee of the competition from leading specialists in the field of choral art, teachers of creative universities, honored cultural workers and artists. The jury list is not disclosed until the start of the competition. At the end of the competition, participants and teachers have the opportunity to discuss competitive performances with members of the jury, exchange opinions and receive the necessary advice and recommendations.

FOR PARTICIPANTS are assigned in each age category and nomination the title of Laureate of I, II and III degrees, diploma holder of I, II and III degrees, the title of “Participant” with the presentation of corresponding diplomas, memorable prizes and badges. Special diplomas and titles have also been established: “Best Choirmaster”, “Best Accompanist”, “ Best Soloist", "Best performance of sacred music", "Best performance folk music", "Best Performance of Contemporary Music", "Best Performance of Early Music".

PAYMENT PROCEDURE

After submitting an application, participants receive an invoice for the application registration fee. Registration must be paid strictly before the end of applications and only to the bank account. Further payments will be made minus the amount already paid.

On January 19-22, the All-Russian choir competition “Choral Kazan 2018” was held for the fourth time! Groups from all over the country took part in the choral competition - from St. Petersburg to Krasnoyarsk. In total there are 21 teams and more than 700 participants.

The authoritative jury, headed by Vladislav Georgievich Lukyanov, a professor at the Kazan Conservatory, also included Alfiya Ibragimovna Zapparova, a professor at the Kazan Conservatory, and Dmitry Alekseevich Onegin, a professor at the Moscow Gnessin Academy of Music. The jury had a difficult job: to determine the best of the best in 15 competitive categories and four nominations. But thanks to the unique 50-point scoring system developed by the Globus Cantata society, it was impossible to doubt the objectivity of the jury.

The team leaders met at a round table with the competition jury. According to the participants' reviews, this meeting was one of the brightest and most memorable moments of the competition.

The competition participants were given a unique opportunity to perform at the most famous concert venue Kazan - the concert hall named after Salikh Saidashev, and on the most historically significant stage of the hall music college named after I.V. Aukhadeyev, which featured S. Taneyev, S.V. Rachmaninov, N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, F.I. worked here as a clerk. Chaliapin!

During their stay in Kazan, the groups got in touch with the rich thousand-year history and culture of Kazan and Tatarstan - on excursions to the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarskaya Sloboda, and the city-museum of Sviyazhsk.

At the final concert and award ceremony for the winners of the “Choral Kazan - 2018” competition, the participants of the competition were addressed Sannikova Daria Alexandrovna - Director of the Kazan Tourism Development Committee and Abzalov Azat Iskandarovich- Head of the Department of Culture of the Executive Committee of Kazan. They thanked the leaders for their enormous creative work, congratulated the teams on their successful participation in the competition and invited them to visit Kazan again!

The competition was founded in memory of the professor of the Moscow Conservatory Boris Grigorievich Tevlin (1931-2012) - an outstanding musician of our time, the founder of his own school of modern choral conducting, the founder of the Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory (1995) and the department of modern choral performing arts (2011).

Welcoming the Competition, a classic of the national composing school, Honorary Chairman of the Competition Jury Rodion Konstantinovich Shchedrin noted that “many high achievements in the choral art of Russia last decades directly related to the name of Boris Tevlin. Relying on the solid foundation of the great traditions of classical music, which always dominated his work, he was invariably directed towards the future, into the new, unknown, and risky. He was an inquisitive, “obsessive” musician, completely devoted and passionate about his life's calling. Here shining example for youth! General provisions

  1. The founder of the Second International Competition of Choral Conductors named after Boris Tevlin (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”) is the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky (hereinafter referred to as the “Conservatory”) with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Due to the large number of applications, the results of the qualifying round will be published January 10, 2018.

Procedure for holding the competition

  1. Competitive auditions are held publicly in Concert hall named after N. Ya. Myaskovsky and the Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and consist of three rounds: the first and second rounds - accompanied by piano, the third round - a rehearsal with the Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory. The final concert of the laureates will take place in the Great Hall of the Conservatory.
  2. The order of performance of the competitors is established by drawing lots before the first round and remains until the end of the Competition. All participants are required to attend the draw and information meeting on March 27, 2018.
  3. According to the decision of the Competition jury, the performance of any participant’s program may be stopped or reduced.
  4. No more than 28 contestants will be allowed to participate in the first round.
  5. No more than 16 contestants will be allowed to participate in the second round.
  6. No more than 8 contestants will be allowed to participate in the third round.
  7. At the end of the second round, the Competition jury will determine the best accompanists.
  8. The results will be announced at the end of each round.

Prizes and awards

  1. The Organizing Committee announces the following awards:
    • first prize - 150,000 (one hundred and fifty) rubles and the title of laureate of the Competition;
    • second prize - 100,000 (one hundred thousand) rubles and the title of laureate of the Competition;
    • third prize - 75,000 (seventy-five thousand) rubles and the title of laureate of the Competition;
    • special prize for the best performance of Russian music - 30,000 (thirty thousand) rubles;
    • special prize for the best performance of foreign music - 30,000 (thirty thousand) rubles.
  2. Participants in the second round who did not qualify for the third round are awarded certificates of honor. Participants in the third round who did not become laureates are awarded honorary diplomas.
  3. The two best accompanists are awarded diplomas and a cash prize in the amount of 17,000 (seventeen thousand) rubles each.
  4. All cash bonuses are paid in rubles and are subject to taxes in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. To receive the bonus, participants must submit the following documents: for Russian citizens - passport, TIN and state pension insurance certificate number; foreign citizens (including CIS countries) - passport.
  5. State, public and commercial organizations, as well as foundations, creative unions, media and individuals have the right, in agreement with the Organizing Committee, to establish additional awards, prizes and gifts for participants in the second and third rounds before the start of the Competition.
  6. The jury has the right to: award not all prizes; divide the amount of one prize among several competitors.
  7. The jury's decisions are final and cannot be challenged.

Financial terms

  1. Payment of expenses of the Competition participants and their accompanists (travel, accommodation and meals) is made either at their expense or at the expense of the sending party.
  2. Visa support and issuance of invitations for foreign participants is provided by the Organizing Committee.
  3. After receiving official notification from the Organizing Committee, foreign participants must apply to the Russian consulate for a visa. All costs for obtaining a visa are borne by the contestants themselves or the organization sending them in accordance with the requirements of the Russian consulates.

Special conditions

  1. Participants in the Competition do not receive any royalties for their performances or for any further use of recordings or broadcasts of their performances.
  2. The Conservatory has exclusive rights to audio, video and/or Internet broadcasts of competition rounds and the final concert of the Competition laureates.
  3. The laureates of the Competition are required to perform free of charge at the final concert.
  4. Contestants will be provided with rehearsal classes in the buildings of the Conservatory in accordance with the established procedure.
  5. If necessary, the Organizing Committee provides the contestants with accompanists for one training and one acoustic rehearsal before each round, as well as for performances in the first and second rounds.
  6. The Organizing Committee assists competitors in obtaining sheet music for the compositions included in the compulsory program of the Competition.
  7. The application signed by those wishing to take part in the Competition is evidence of their agreement with all of the above conditions.
  8. In the event of any disputes regarding the interpretation of these terms and conditions of the Competition, the text in Russian published on the Conservatory’s website shall prevail.

The winners will receive memorable prizes and diplomas of laureates of 1,2,3 degrees, as well as the title of diploma holders. The Grand Prix winner will have the opportunity to participate in one of the competitions organized by the Salute of Talents organization without making a financial contribution.

International vocal competitions in Moscow

Despite huge amount international competitions organized throughout Russia, festivals and competitions held in Moscow are always popular. Among the vocal competitions of the 2017/2018 season in Moscow, in addition to traditional professional ones, festival-competitions organized by the Planet of Talents Foundation are worthy of attention.

International distance vocal festivals and online competitions

For most soloists, teachers, participants in vocal studios and their parents, traveling to major international competitions is not possible due to financial and organizational difficulties. However, having an official international diploma can facilitate further entry into music educational institutions and receiving government scholarships or grants. In this case, the best option would be to participate in online competitions organized by creative associations and various support funds. The University of Pretoria (Afrikaans: Universiteit van Pretoria, Northern Sotho: Yunibesithi ya Pretoria) is a multi-campus public research university in Pretoria, the administrative and de facto capital of South Africa.

Built as a designated complex to provide facilities for the Department of Music which was established in 1958, this structure consists of office wings, an auditorium and an open-air amphitheatre. UP alumnus and architect Brian Sandrock was responsible for the design of the facility which was built on part of the old athletics field. Remnants of the spectator terraces around the track can still be seen to the east of the Musaion. The office wing of the complex was completed in 1960 and the auditorium and amphitheater the following year. The complex was officially opened with a series of concerts in 1961 and in April 1962 with a gala concert featuring South African opera star Mimi Coertse and the South African Broadcasting Corporation Symphony Concert. The complex features elements of the Little Brazilian or Modern Brazilian style and has excellent acoustics. In 1976 the University installed a mechanical-action pipe organ in the Musaion that consists of 2,659 organ pipes, of which the tallest measures 4.9 meters. The Musaion seats just over 500 people and the amphitheater around 3,000. Free weekly lunch-hour concerts are held in the Musaion during term. Together with the Aula, the Musaion and Amphitheater the complex is an important cultural venue on the University campus.

The South African State Theater is a national flagship that facilitates the arts and entertainment and encourages diverse cultural provision; we seek to play a unique and vital role in the cultural life of the Nation, the Province of Gauteng and the City of Tshwane.

The Opera House is the largest of six theatres, seating 1,300 patrons on three levels including a balcony. It has an orchestra pit that can be adjusted to accommodate up to 60 musicians. The seating has been arranged to provide excellent views of the stage from any vantage point. Continental style seating has been adopted, offering two entrance/exit doors for every four rows of seats to facilitate ease of entrance and exit of patrons. Capacity: 1300 seats.
