Offer to carefully watch and listen to the story about two palms that help children draw!

1. Place your left palm in the center of a sheet of paper. Move your thumb to the side. Press the ring and little fingers together, close the index and middle fingers more tightly and move them slightly to the side.

2. A tick should form between the ring and middle fingers. Press your palm firmly onto the piece of paper so that it does not move.

3. Right hand circle with a simple pencil palm, do not press the pencil too hard against your fingers.

4. Remove the left palm from the sheet and close two lines.

5. Turn the sheet 180. Ask the children “What does this look like?”

6. Draw two arcs (hood) on top.

7. On the right side you need to draw a second hand. Children themselves decide where it will be directed: up, down, to the side or to the left on the overalls.

8. We drew: ovals - boots; oval plus finger - mittens; scarf; eyes; nose; mouth.

We continue the topic “ We draw winter fun for children».

What winter fun do we know? - I ask the students. The people, crowded into their desks, are trying to remember something on the topic.

What I like most is watching children just playing around in the snow. Without any sleds or shovels. They simply throw the crumbling snow, jump into the snowdrifts, and then, lying on their backs, kick their legs to shake the snow out of their felt boots or just for the pleasure of lying in the snow. You can also lie on your back, clap your hands to the sides and this will create an imprint like wings.

When I tell this, the students’ eyes begin to sparkle, and no wonder, sit in class for six lessons.

So, the idea of a child lying down to play in the snow is great, but, alas, very difficult to implement.

In general, it is very difficult to draw a lying figure of a person (either on his side or on his back), I assure you. And what if from a perspective, but taking into account the perspective... And if not from a perspective and without perspective? - But no, it simply won’t work. My students smile and draw a picture like this:

But you are depicting a top view,” I say, “if you insert this figure into the picture, you will get the clear impression that the child is simply standing on one leg. We need to draw a lying person from a USUAL point of view.

Anyway, let's draw. I found a photo on the Internet - a child lies in the snow with his feet towards us and his head diagonally into the distance.

From the perspective it looks like the feet in the foreground look large and the legs themselves are long. The head is relatively small. Arms spread to the sides look completely shortened. By the way, I’ll also note that the complexity and strangeness of the appearance of the figure lying in the snow is also given by the snow itself - the body is partially immersed in it. This also needs to be taken into account.

We have drawn up a diagram of the figure, now we are clarifying the details. The leg, presented directly at the viewer, looks thick and is greatly reduced. The second one looks much thinner, and the snow is almost knee-deep))). The body is quite massive, and the arms are small and thin in perspective.

Well, what can I say? You need to draw such scenes from life. But sitting at your desk, you can’t model it in your mind - that’s what I’m answering.

Exhibit reproductions of paintings about winter.

Winter time means snow-covered streets, flying snow, anticipation of the New Year holidays, and, of course, winter fun that children look forward to all year.

These include sledding, skiing, skating, playing snowballs, building snow figures, snowmen. Quite often in drawing lessons, children are asked to draw winter fun, so let’s take a closer look at what can be drawn on this topic and how to do it.

Pencil pictures

Almost all children love to draw, especially if the topic of the upcoming work is free. Likewise, in winter, children are often asked to depict winter fun in pencil drawings. There are various pictures on this topic, of any complexity.

This could be Santa Claus, a Christmas tree decorated with balls and other decorations, children sledding, skiing, playing snowballs. Most children prefer to draw pictures that depict a snowman. This is due to the ease of his image.

But, in order for the drawing to be complete, you need to draw something else besides the snowman. An excellent solution to a drawing on the theme “Winter Fun” is the image of a snowman on a snowy street. You can draw it in 6 stages:

  • First you need to delimit the horizon. In our case, it will be somewhat curved, which will help give the drawing a three-dimensional look. On the left - you will need to make sketches of the future fence, on the right - trees located in the distance.
  • We design the fence by drawing straight lines along its entire length. Behind it there will be trees, the drawing of which will need to be done at this stage. The closer the trees are to us, the larger they are. We draw the silhouette of a snowman - these are three circles located from the largest to the smallest.

  • At this stage, you need to draw the tops of the trees. In order to simplify the task, you can create their general silhouette without drawing the branches. The snowman gains facial features and a bucket hat. You can also depict hands that will become tree branches.

  • In the hands shown in the previous step, you will need to draw a spruce branch. From the side of the hand where the branch is depicted, we mark the top and trunk of the upcoming fluffy Christmas tree, after which we proceed to depict it in the drawing with a pencil.

  • Having drawn the Christmas tree, we begin to draw up the drawing. Since the picture shows winter, it is necessary to draw snowdrifts and snow lying on the fence, trees, and snowman.

To do this, use an eraser to carefully erase the main lines and draw the adhered snow in the erased area with uneven lines.

This is quite easy to do, and the picture turns out to be more realistic. The Christmas tree can be decorated New Year's toys, and draw a bird near the snowman. It is important not to miss such a moment as the image of our snowman’s legs, which are slightly immersed in a snowdrift.

  • The final stage of drawing is the image of falling snow. To do this, without pressing the pencil along the drawing, we evenly draw small droplets falling from the sky at the same angle. The design can be considered complete.

The children will certainly like what they created. If you follow the steps of depicting such a picture, it will turn out to be voluminous and quite interesting.

In this case, it is enough to have a simple pencil and eraser on hand. Naturally, this option is just an example of what they can be winter pictures, so you can safely supplement it with your fantasies. If desired, the drawing can be colored with colored pencils, felt-tip pens, paints, which will make it even more interesting.

It’s worth saying that I don’t get to take part in competitions very often, because... I am either busy on the dates when the competition is held, or I am not satisfied with the criteria for selecting the winners (for example, voting is carried out in contact by the largest number likes, which are now easy to generate and get the required number). This time it so happened that the timing was good, right on new year holidays, and the selection of works was carried out by an independent jury. For this, of course, I would like to say a special thank you to the organizers of the competition.

I found out about the competition by chance when I went to the store’s website looking for paper for pastels. I was immediately interested in the idea of the competition - to create my own unique story on the theme of winter festivities, sports, and games. I immediately discarded the option of copying, because... All works were checked for uniqueness. According to one of the criteria, you also had to place the name of the store’s website on your work.

In general, I got excited about the idea of participating and began to look through what kind of games and festivities happen in winter. Having made a preliminary list various types sports and games, for several days I was thinking about what to choose from the list so that the idea would not be boring. And in the end I settled on the option of playing snowballs and skiing. And to make it completely New Year’s, I decided to add a team of snowmen to the picture. The following idea was formed - in winter forest Skiing competitions are held where children and snowmen participate. But these competitions are not enough for the teams. Right on the ski slope, several snowmen and children were having a snowball fight, and they were about to hit the skiers passing by.

The final version of the idea took shape on my last working day in 2015, December 25th. Arriving home, I very quickly, while all the images were fresh, sketched out the main idea, the location of characters and objects in a sketchbook:

As you can see, this is literally a two to three minute quick sketch with chaotic lines expressing general idea. Why I arranged the characters and details in this way, I will tell/show you at the end of the article.

One of the next days off, I started making a more detailed sketch on A4 format with more detailed characters. In doing so, I decided to move the birds from the tree on the left to the greeting banner at the top:

When I was satisfied with the placement of objects and characters, I took A3 paper to create an even more detailed sketch, which will serve as a reference for me when I draw on A3 pastel paper:

I no longer placed birds and inscriptions here, only the location of the main objects and details on the characters.

The next step was to draw a sketch (the ability to copy or sketch came in handy here) onto the final sheet of Canson pastel paper, on which I planned to carry out the rest creative activity. Moreover, on this sheet, I made all the lines with a simple pencil very thin and before putting the pastel, I removed additional graphite from the paper with a mark, brightening the lines to the maximum.

I started working in pastels by drawing the sky and the background of the trees. Everything here is the same as in an ordinary landscape, the main thing to remember is. In large spaces I used different brands of dry pastels. The details were drawn with Derwent pastel pencils. The bright white areas were done with MUNGYO extra soft pastels:

By the way, in the final sketch I decided that the crow, who stole the carrot nose from the snowman, would sit on a branch with open wings, adding more movement to the picture - a snowman without a nose jumps to get the carrot, the crow teases him and evades him, flapping his wings. Here I carefully drew the letters on all the banners using a ruler, again trying to comply with the laws of perspective.

Having completed drawing the long-range plan, I began to work on the children. And this turned out to be the most difficult moment in the film for me. I had never drawn children before. Well, somehow it wasn’t necessary at all. And even more so their faces with emotions. Here it was necessary to draw at least 3 children's faces. I tried to Google a little, but I couldn’t find any children’s faces that matched the image in my head. I had to practice on a separate sheet of paper. The first "victim" was the girl on the left. I drew 5 or 6 girl faces on a separate sheet of paper, but they all turned out pretty scary. The last option was more or less, and I decided to reproduce it in the final version. Having completed the face, I completed the hat, hair, coat and boots. He walked away a little from the painting, was once again horrified at how scary the girl turned out, and after removing her face, wiping the pastel clean down to paper, he went to bed.

The next day, for some reason all the problems disappeared as if by hand. I have noticed more than once that if something doesn’t work out very well, you need to sleep with it and everything will work out tomorrow. As a result, the faces turned out to be more or less good-natured :-)

And a close-up:

From above, fans are watching the snowball fights, actively supporting the teams with their chirps:

And in the distance the competition participants are already visible! By the way, the inscription “Hello to the Competition Participants” refers not only to the characters in the film, but also to the participants in the “Winter Fun” competition:

The final step was to draw a team of snowmen. This turned out to be a fairly simple task, because... The shape of the snowman is made up of simple balls, so distributing light and shadow was easy. Close-up this area:

Well, here is the final illustration for the “Winter Fun” competition, which received 1st place:

As I promised at the beginning of the article, I show why this particular composition of characters and elements in the illustration was chosen:

If anyone hasn’t guessed yet, the red line shows the approximate route of attention. Moreover, the trajectory works in both directions. Wherever the eye passes, blocking elements (trees, an overhead banner, a jumping snowman) block it from leaving the picture and direct it further around the circle, keeping attention inside the picture.

I hope you found this story helpful. Be sure to participate in competitions if free time allows. In my opinion, this is a good opportunity to try something new and find out what capabilities you have! Well, I’m already impatiently waiting for the prize - a wooden case with extra soft MUNGYO pastels of 160 colors.

By the way, I recommend you the Etudesite online store for shopping art materials. I chose this store a long time ago, because... they have some of the most low prices, good choice, and there is also the opportunity to purchase materials individually, for example, pastels. The latter is very convenient. For example, not long ago I ordered extra soft MUNGYO pastels from them individually. The parcel arrived literally in a week! The pastels were carefully placed in foam packages of several bars. Everything arrived safe and sound.

Well, that's all for me. Don't forget to leave comments and share the article with your friends.
