Friends, our Summer Reading Program has already begun. For those who are reading about our Program for the first time, I will say that using the tag “Summer Reading Program” you can “walk” through previous years with our summer reading.
This year our theme is relevant and very interesting - ecology! "The world is beautiful, the world is alive" - this is how it sounds, and, as you well understand, there are many more books on this topic than we offer in the approximate recommendation list, to get to know.
But some books are already waiting for you in our library :)
Program Terms
remain unchanged:
1. Program participants sign an agreement with the library and undertake to read a number of books determined by themselves (but not less than 3) before August 30, 2017.
2. Program participants make notes about the books they read in a reading diary.
3. Program participants prepare a presentation (for 1-2 minutes) on a book they like in free form: book trailer, media presentation, theatrical production, etc.
4.
The finalists of the program are participants who:
- fulfilled the contract with the library;
- no later than September 14, submitted their reading diaries and draft presentations for consideration.
5. The celebration for the participants of the Summer Reading Program “Beautiful World, Living World” and the award ceremony for the finalists will take place on September 24 at the address: Rostovskaya embankment, building 5.

Organizing summer holidays for children and teenagers is a traditional activity of libraries. In the summer, the main task of all libraries is to provide meaningful recreation to as many schoolchildren as possible, broaden their horizons, teach creativity, communication, respect for nature, and instill a love of books.
Libraries cooperate with schools, kindergartens, work and recreation camps, and sports camps to organize summer vacations.
How to fill the free time of children and teenagers? How to make them interested in books this summer? These issues are aimed at solvingsummer programs . They include:
· attracting children and teenagers to the library,
·organization of their summer leisure;
·development of the student’s intellect through games and books;
joint creativity of children and their parents
Individual events are being replaced by comprehensive and specialized summer programs that reflect the diversity of thematic areas works are compiled taking into account the specifics of various age categories, which increases children’s interest in all ongoing activities. These forms of library work are especially popular such as: theatrical performances, review games, literary cruises, geographical information magazines, art historical investigations. In a word, the leisure time of children and teenagers in the library in the summer is not only limited to reading. Some guys strive to show off their erudition by solving crosswords and charades, answering quiz questions. Others prefer to express themselves in literary creativity - they write poems, stories, letters to their favorite characters. Still others try themselves as illustrators, embodying images of book characters in drawings.
Despite the active summer fun, children can be encouraged to attend classes with enthusiasm“School of Morality”, “School of the Young Pedestrian”, “Magic School of Politeness”,
which open in the summer at libraries.
A series of computer literacy lessons helps children communicate with this smart technology on a first-name basis.
Particular attention should be paid to exhibitions aimed at a specific readership. Teenagers can be offered a crossword exhibition“Looking for a reading friend.” To solve this crossword puzzle and find the correct answers, they had to read the books on display.
For lovers of intellectual leisure, a new form can be introduced into the work of libraries"Erudite Cafe".This is a cycle of educational activities with children not only within the walls of the library, but also going beyond it: excursions to the local history museum, to the park of culture and recreation. The topics of meetings in the cafe are very diverse: conversations about love and friendship, camaraderie, local history quizzes about native land and famous fellow countrymen, literary competitions and intellectual duels.
Many libraries can actively use their technical capabilities to create video salons, video clubs, organize screenings of animated films and slides, karaoke tournaments, and chess and checkers tournaments.
An interesting form of work is organizing a summer reading room. The purpose of this work is to promote reading through books and periodicals through an open-air reading room. An important aspect of its functioning is informational, educational and leisure activities. Designed for children and teenagers, this work includes holding fun games, educational quizzes, and interesting competitions.
Libraries open mobile stations at summer health camps and school day camps. Children vacationing there can be invited to the walls of the “book kingdom”, where they are introduced to the latest literature, children's newspapers and magazines.
During the summer holidays, many libraries can involve children in library activities. Environmental education
Its goal is to educate children in environmental literacy through familiarization with the works of naturalist writers: Sladkov, Prishvin, Paustovsky, etc.
The forms of work are very diverse: loud readings, games, intellectual lotto, quizzes and riddles, discussion of works. Children can take part in the round table with great pleasure "Earth is our home" you can suggest creating your own "Declaration of Nature" take an active part in the creation of an environmental book.
To increase interest in the native land, its nature, to see and try to solve its problems, libraries hold events with access to nature:

Local history

Summer readings can be held under the motto “Remember: you won’t know the world without knowing your edge.” The program can be called “My native land is a big part of the Motherland”. The work of libraries on local history education includes three main areas:
·"Our mutual friend– nature” (nature, ecology of the region)
"Writers and poets of the native land"
"On the native side"
As part of the summer holiday program for children, it is necessary to organize a variety of activities:
· “My Native Street” - educational hour,
· “Land of Wonders” - local history quiz game,
· “It’s better to see once” - a local history trip.
The symbol of the program “My native land is a big part of the Motherland” is Grandfather-local historian. It is on his behalf that it is necessary to develop an insert booklet with tasks.
These are the words the Grandfather-local historian addresses to the participants of the readings: “Dear friend! Nice to meet you. I am the Grandfather of local history, I will lead you with the help of maps, books, riddles, competitions into the wonderful world of nature, I will introduce you to the history and literature of the region, I will tell you how to see the unusual in the ordinary. At the end of the summer holidays, perhaps you will receive one of the prizes in the categories: leader of local history reading, reader-artist, reader-writer, reader-visionary.”
The results are summed up at a general library festival, where the winners of the summer readings will be awarded.
Moral and aesthetic education, instilling an interest in reading
Organizing children's leisure time, attracting them to reading, broadening their horizons and developing children's aesthetic perception of the world around them have always been priorities in the work of libraries in the summer.
In addition to the traditional children's reading week, which takes place during spring break, libraries pay especially much attention to children's reading “outside the curriculum” in the summer.“Extraordinary Adventures”: literary quiz
Traditionally, in many libraries, the campaign to organize work in the summer begins with Pushkin Days. Libraries hold blitz tournaments, literary marathons, and quizzes dedicated to the legacy of the great poet.
"Literary gazebo"- under this name you can organize a summer reading program in the library. Participants in the program have the opportunity to demonstrate their literary abilities, develop imagination, and acquire communication skills.
Such events are not just entertaining, but carry rich information, the charm of a book, and awaken imagination. Creating a game situation removes the painful motive of “testing abilities” for children, and their inclinations and habits are revealed more fully.
Libraries can organize an entire city with its own “Entertainment Square”, “Crossroads of Hobbies”, “Boulevard of Health”, “Street of Good Deeds”, and its own publishing house.
Events held in libraries during the summer are developed taking into account the interests of children and adolescents, their age characteristics and are multifaceted: these are hours of fun, puppet shows, theatrical performances, role-playing and literary games, competitions "The book gives inspiration" drawings "My favorite fairy tale", essays "My family's favorite book."
The creative and fruitful work of libraries in the summer once again confirms the demand for libraries and increases their prestige in society. We can say with confidence that summer is the most active season in working with readers, a time of creativity, imagination, and activation of all forms of individual and mass work.

Target programs: Make reading a pleasure.
Basic tasks programs:
- organizing summer leisure activities for children;
- development of children's reading activity;
- formation of children's continuous reading and self-education skills;
- identification and development of children’s creative abilities;
- attracting new readers to the library.
Traditionally, in the summer, the library works with its social partners- the school, the village administration and parents.
In June, various public events aimed at promoting books and reading were held for children from the school camp.
It was very interesting theatrical holiday “Let there always be summer!”. Children of different ages gathered on the summer playground to play, dance, sing funny songs, chat and celebrate Summer.
Baba Yaga, who unexpectedly appeared on the summer playground, caused delight among the children. She splashed water on them, tried to throw out all the books from the exhibition “Open the page - the door, there are all kinds of animals in the book” and confuse the children when they guessed the riddles of Summer. But the children guessed not only the riddles of Summer, but also the cunning riddles of Baba Yaga, danced the cheerful dance “Aram-Zam-Zam”, and remembered songs about the sun and summer. And Baba Yaga, succumbing to the general mood, decided to hold outdoor games for the children. And in conclusion, Summer treated all the children to sweets. The children shouted “Hurray!” holidays and were a little upset when it was time to say goodbye to the heroes of this wonderful holiday.
Within Pushkin Day in Russia for the health camp was held Quiz game “On the road to Lukomorye”. Having divided into 2 teams and chosen captains, the guys received route and evaluation sheets and hit the road. A librarian met the children at each station, gave them assignments and graded their answers. During the game, children solved crossword puzzles with interest, answered questions about the poet’s biography, and performed literary tests, read by heart lines from Pushkin’s fairy tales, chose objects related to certain fairy tales, guessed the fairy-tale characters who sent them telegrams, etc.
On the occasion of Russia Day, a special event was held for readers campaign “We are part of the country, we are a corner of Russia”. The event took the form of a dialogue with children. The guys very actively and animatedly answered the hosts’ questions: “What is the name of our Motherland?”, “What is the name of our state?” etc. The children learned what state symbols are and why they are different for all states of the world. The guys got acquainted with the history of the flag, learned what changes it has undergone Russian flag from the moment of its appearance, determined symbolic meaning colors of the Russian flag.
As part of the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, children from the school camp held evening of grief “The war took a terrible toll on children’s destinies”.
It was also carried out Ecological journey “Beyond the mountains, beyond the forests”. It took place in the form of the game “Tic Tac Toe”. The guys answered environmental quiz questions, competed in their knowledge of the plants and animals of the forest, quickly put together answers from letters and remembered signs that help people not get lost in the forest. Readers learned a lot of new and interesting things about the nature and animals of the forest, and remembered the rules of behavior in the forest.
Local history is one of the most important areas in working with children in the library.
For children from the school's summer labor team Historical and local history readings “My land is thoughtful and tender”. The children learned a lot about the history of their native village. Living on Lenin Street (popularly Zlatov, named after a WWII participant, former honored teacher and school director A.I. Zolotov), the children never thought about who this name belongs to and what this person is known for. Readers have shown genuine interest in the identity of this wonderful person and found out why the villagers decided to name the street after him.”
The library also paid attention to the prevention of negative phenomena among teenagers. To this end, the library conducted International Olympic Day in memory of the revival of the Olympic movement in its modern form. The Olympic Charter states: “The Olympic movement has as its goals the education of young people through sport in the spirit of better mutual understanding and friendship, thus contributing to the creation of a better and more peaceful world.” On the eve of the International Olympic Day, as well as on the day of the fight against drug addiction, librarian Kriushinskaya rural library organized for its readers, sports and game hour “Fairytale relay races”.
The goals of the event are to promote Olympic values and ideals, popularize the Olympic movement and sports in general, and attract the younger generation to regular physical education, sports and a healthy lifestyle.
The library’s task is to work to promote a healthy lifestyle, provide warning information, and protect the younger generation from harm.
The event took place outdoors. At the beginning of the event, children learned about Winter Olympic sports, about the history of the White Olympics and about outstanding Russian athletes, about the XXI Winter Olympic Games ah in Vancouver and, of course, about the XXII Winter Olympics in Sochi. The children leafed through the pages of the Olympic Dictionary, learned about the symbols, talismans, medals of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and the Olympic torch relay. Then they started sports competitions from the Olympic anthem. Sports passion those present were awakened by their familiarity with Olympic sports, as well as with medalists and members of the Russian Olympic team, which they learned about from short story"Olympic Games". The teenagers noted that everyone feels a great sense of pride that our country is ready to host the most important sports games in the world.
The guys competed in a fabulous pentathlon. It included the following sports disciplines: “running along unknown paths”, “jumping the Frog Princess”, “throwing a magic ball”, “fairytale miles”, “defeat Koshchei”, playing volleyball. The meeting ended with a quiz. During the game, the children learned about the history of the Olympic Games and remembered winter views sports. IN competitive program The children were tested with sports equipment and also performed physical exercises. Also, from a short story, the children learned about the destructive effects of intoxicants on a teenager’s body and the consequences of their use.
Actively and emotionally involved in the discussion of the question he proposed, “Why will I never try drugs?”
Humanity is fighting drug addiction with all available means, one of which is living word classical literature. Excerpts from works were read M. Bulgakova, Ch. Aitmatova. One of the cures for drug addiction is the truth about it. “Forewarned is forearmed” - says folk proverb. Knowing the truth about drugs will not only prevent children from becoming victims themselves, but will also stop their friends. The meeting ended with an Olympic quiz. In the competition program, children were tested with sports equipment and also performed physical exercises.
At the end of the event, the guys promised to do morning exercises and sports, so that later they could be proud of their achievements and delight their family and friends with their sports victories and health. And also throughout their lives to follow the motto “We are for sports!” hotline", "helplines". 10 people attended the event.

In the summer, the libraries of the MBU Central Library actively work under the program "Summer Readings", which is part of the city municipal program “Izhevsk Vacations”. The goal of the program is to develop active reading activity and organize leisure time for children and adolescents in the summer.
20 branch libraries serving children are participating in the Summer Readings program in 2017. Each library plans its activities in the summer in accordance with the interests and needs of children's readers (up to 14 years), taking into account the relevance and demand for topics and forms of work.
2017 in Russia has been declared the Year of Ecology, so summer library programs are dedicated to nature, conservation environment.
Many events will introduce young readers to children's writers and their works. In libraries, children will find not only interesting books, but also active and intellectual games, walks in the fresh air, watching cartoons, entertaining master classes, and theatrical performances. Organizing summer holidays for children and teenagers is a traditional activity of libraries. In the summer, the main task of all libraries is to provide meaningful recreation to as many schoolchildren as possible, broaden their horizons, teach creativity, communication, respect for nature, and instill a love of books.
Libraries cooperate with schools, kindergartens, work and recreation camps, and sports camps to organize summer vacations.
How to fill the free time of children and teenagers? How to make them interested in books this summer? These issues are aimed at solvingsummer programs . They include:
· attracting children and teenagers to the library,
·organization of their summer leisure;
·development of the student’s intellect through games and books;
joint creativity of children and their parents
Individual events are being replaced by comprehensive and specialized summer programs, which reflect the diversity of thematic areas of work and are compiled taking into account the specifics of various age categories, which increases the interest of children in all ongoing events. Hereexamples of summer programs , according to which libraries can work:“Amazing Vacation”, “Summer Kaleidoscope”, “Summer, a book, I am friends”, “Summer with a book”, “Journey through the book Universe”, “Vacation with a book”, “The secret is in the book, the book is a secret”.
These programs are interesting because they allow you to combine reading with creative and playful activities, discussion of books with watching films and cartoons.
In the summer, it is advisable to carry out work using such forms of work astravel, tournaments, environmental watches and lessons, creative workshops.

Others prefer to express themselves in literary creativity - they write poems, stories, letters to their favorite characters. Still others try themselves as illustrators, embodying images of book characters in drawings.

The results are summed up at a general library festival, where the winners of the summer readings will be awarded.
Moral and aesthetic education, instilling an interest in reading
Organizing children's leisure time, attracting them to reading, broadening their horizons and developing children's aesthetic perception of the world around them have always been priorities in the work of libraries in the summer.
