Well, this highest timbre in combination with a male choir and orchestra in the background gave an amazing effect, it chilled me from the bones, I admit. Her style is like modern opera, that is, a more or less classical melody, Italian language and voice.
I took the disk from my mother and before last days I turned it on periodically when I wanted something aesthetic, something beautiful, for the soul.However, the first time I was given reason to doubt Emma’s phenomenal abilities, no matter how trivial it may seem, was my vocal teacher, whom I eagerly turned on to listen to the disc. Firstly, she absolutely did not pull out the notes. Moreover, none: neither the highest, nor just high, nor even the low ones, which she “sang” almost in a whisper and completely inaudibly.
Secondly, it didn’t emit any energy at all! This was out of the question. She crawled around the stage, did not look at the audience for 75% of the entire concert, raised her hands vaguely reminiscent of limp, spoiled celery (sorry for such a comparison). NO, I'm not asking her to run around the stage, given the styles of the songs, I'm not asking her to somersault like Britney Spears or Beyonce. BUT I was at Anna Netrebko’s concert, for example (may she forgive me for mentioning her name in such an unworthy company), and there the raising of one hand already radiated such strength, such energy that there was no need to move much.
Thirdly, her eyes were sad, and she obviously either felt like she was screwing up in front of a large audience, or was afraid of the Russian spectator, or before the concert she was already squeezed like lemon, and wanted to leave the stage as quickly as possible. The voice, sounding periodically between songs to announce the next one, was weak, hoarse and somehow completely stupid. Like a stupid blonde. No dignity.
Fourthly, there were songs with a classical touch less, than "crazy songs", as she herself called them. These crazy songs are nothing more than a mediocre parody of rock music. But I’m sure that if rock musicians had listened to them, they would never have recognized it as theirs. And after that, even her loyal fans no longer recognize when she almost turned away from the genre for which she was so loved. Stupid and completely mediocre.
Fifthly, her dresses (especially the red one with black high boots, reminiscent of the shape of moths) left much to be desired. It was some kind of mixture of gothic with rock and simply lack of taste. It was somehow unpleasant to watch. Especially when the disheveled long black hair hung “unattended” from the shoulders.
Sixthly, a dubious-looking guy periodically moved around the stage, clearly claiming to be a dancer, but in my personal opinion, in no way fully being one. He depicted some strange movements that someone could interpret as “modern dance”, but I am still not a stranger to this area, and would not agree with this definition.
Seventhly, her pianist is also a complete amateur. Played worse than my graduate music school them. Dunaevsky. Apparently, as my mother suggested, no normal pianist would want to work with a singer of the level to which Emma had sunk.
After all, having scoured the Internet and read reviews about her other concerts, we realized that yesterday’s was not something out of the ordinary. This is a continuation of the emerging trend. Unfortunately. And my vocal teacher was right, hearing in that pure tone of the 1990s a problem that became decisive for Emma’s current situation.
