An excerpt characterizing the Tseh (festival)

Sonya didn’t see anything, she just wanted to blink her eyes and get up when she heard Natasha’s voice saying “definitely”... She didn’t want to deceive either Dunyasha or Natasha, and it was hard to sit. She herself did not know how or why a cry escaped her when she covered her eyes with her hand.
– Did you see him? – Natasha asked, grabbing her hand.
- Yes. Wait... I... saw him,” Sonya said involuntarily, not yet knowing who Natasha meant by the word “him”: him - Nikolai or him - Andrey.
“But why shouldn’t I say what I saw? After all, others see! And who can convict me of what I saw or did not see? flashed through Sonya's head.
“Yes, I saw him,” she said.
- How? How? Is it standing or lying down?
- No, I saw... Then there was nothing, suddenly I see that he is lying.
– Andrey is lying down? Is he sick? – Natasha asked, looking at her friend with fearful, stopped eyes.
- No, on the contrary, - on the contrary, a cheerful face, and he turned to me - and at that moment as she spoke, it seemed to her that she saw what she was saying.
- Well, then, Sonya?...
– I didn’t notice something blue and red here...
- Sonya! when will he return? When I see him! My God, how I’m afraid for him and for myself, and for everything I’m afraid...” Natasha spoke, and without answering a word to Sonya’s consolations, she went to bed and long after the candle had been put out, with her eyes open, she lay motionless on the bed and looked at the frosty moonlight through the frozen windows.

Soon after Christmas, Nikolai announced to his mother his love for Sonya and his firm decision to marry her. The Countess, who had long noticed what was happening between Sonya and Nikolai and was expecting this explanation, silently listened to his words and told her son that he could marry whomever he wanted; but that neither she nor his father would give him his blessing for such a marriage. For the first time, Nikolai felt that his mother was unhappy with him, that despite all her love for him, she would not give in to him. She, coldly and without looking at her son, sent for her husband; and when he arrived, the countess wanted to briefly and coldly tell him what was the matter in the presence of Nikolai, but she could not resist: she cried tears of frustration and left the room. The old count began to hesitantly admonish Nicholas and ask him to abandon his intention. Nicholas replied that he could not change his word, and the father, sighing and obviously embarrassed, very soon interrupted his speech and went to the countess. In all his clashes with his son, the count was never left with the consciousness of his guilt towards him for the breakdown of affairs, and therefore he could not be angry with his son for refusing to marry a rich bride and for choosing the dowryless Sonya - only in this case did he more vividly remember what, if things weren’t upset, it would be impossible to wish for a better wife for Nikolai than Sonya; and that only he and his Mitenka and his irresistible habits are to blame for the disorder of affairs.

At two Moscow venues (in the Assembly Hall and the Bely Workshop at Winzavod), a festival of the main achievements of Russian modern dance begins with a bonus in the form of Polish and Italian productions, as well as a couple joint projects. Among the participants are the sensational and must-see Moscow-Chelyabinsk-St. Petersburg troupe Liquid Theater, whose performances each time inhabit the provided spaces in their own way, the Italians Zerogrammi with the dance of two handsome men in costumes based on ancient Greek myth about the struggle of the Mycenaean heirs for power and a joint production of the same Zerogrammi with the Kostroma troupe "Dialogue Dance" on approximately the same topic, but in four roles and with the influence of Tarantino.

5 MAIN PERFORMANCES OF THE FESTIVAL
ACCORDING TO THE VILLAGE

PUNTO DI FUGA

Authors: Zerogrammi (Italy), “Dialogue Dance” (Kostroma)
Dates: December 1 and 2, 20:00

National laureates theater award“Golden Mask - 2011”, Kostroma school of modern dance “Dialogue Dance” presented the performance in their hometown back in February, then in May they brought it to the territory of the Factory Project, and now they will show it to Muscovites again.

There is absolute silence, and four dancers on a stage designed like a playing field begin the game - noisy, with struggle, constant castling and lunging, bluffing and deceptive maneuvers. The seemingly funny story of the relationship between the actors and their warriors for the “cages” on stage is presented by the authors as an attempt to tell the story of the seizure of power in dance. However, as a result, the action on stage can be transferred to human relationships in general - be it a story of love and hate, violence and respect.

SUBITO FORTE

Authors: Liquid Theater (Moscow - Chelyabinsk - St. Petersburg)
Dates: December 3 and 4, 16:00
Venue: Project "Factory"
", Olivier Hall

Masters of performance and creative adaptations, Liquid Theater like to note that they work in the site-specific genre - they either easily stage a musical-physical performance on the territory of the Garage, or they play the role of simple workers at the Archstoyanie festival in the role of Suprematist peasants. Their play “LIQUIDation” won the national theater award “Golden Mask” in the “Experiment” competition in 2009, and the premiere of their work Subito Forte (“Suddenly Loud”) will take place as part of the TSEKH festival. There is very little information about the show - we only know that the authors will tell the story of a free man in a large state, and at the same time try to find commonalities between the Greek epic and Soviet art.

SEPIA

Dates: December 3 and 4, 20:00
Venue: “Winzavod”, Belyi Workshop (as part of the “Platform” project)

The Sepia show from the legendary choreographer Tatyana Baganova should become another Moscow premiere at the festival. Prior to this, the performance was shown only in the USA (since it was staged at the request of the American Dance Festival) and Baganova’s hometown of Yekaterinburg. The show is based on Japanese writer Kobo Abe's novel The Woman in the Sands, which tells the story of an insect collector lost for life with a lonely woman in the sands. In Baganova’s production, sand, in addition to the characters’ habitat, becomes a symbol of time, infinity and, ultimately, a factor that transforms human consciousness.

WEDDING

Authors: “Provincial Dances” (Ekaterinburg)
Dates: December 3 and 4, 20:00
Venue: “Winzavod”, Belyi Workshop (as part of the “Platform” project)

The screening of the Ekaterinburg “Wedding” is one of major events TSEKH festival, including according to the organizers. This performance to the music of Stravinsky, which in 2000 received " Golden mask" in the category " Best work choreographer/choreographer", which has received admiring reviews from critics throughout Russia, will be presented to the Moscow public again. The production is based on a plot about a marriage ceremony common among the Northern Slavs, the culmination of which was cutting off the bride’s braid. Ekaterinburg choreographer and director Tatyana Baganova shows the audience the entire wedding in half an hour: from dating and matchmaking to the wedding process.

PASTO A DUE

Authors: Zerogrammi (Italy)
Dates: December 10 and 11, 18:00
Venue: Project “Factory”, “Assembly Hall”

The performance, along with the production of “Six Degrees“The closing festival will present a variation of Seneca’s tragedy about the struggle for power of the sons of the Greek king Mycenae. The work of the Italian collective Zerogrammi, realized in 2011, turned out to be a performance of extreme tension.

Pasto a Due is a continuation of the Punto Di Fuga project, on which the Italians worked together with the Kostroma company Dialogue Dance. and which will be shown to the audience in the first days of the festival.

ALSO IN THE PROGRAM:

"Six degrees » (Italy)

The temperature on Earth has changed by six degrees over the past hundred years. This fact formed the basis of the performance on the theme of the beginning and end of life, in which just one dancer in a charming dance turns into a cocoon, a butterfly, a plant, or a flash of lightning.

Interview with Blank & Jones.

How do you like our city? You are coming to us for the umpteenth time, does this seem like a wonderful tradition?
- It's a wonderful city. The show itself was especially successful - people enjoyed the music. We really enjoyed playing here.

You create both trance and ambient. Does your mood differ when writing music in different styles?
- You know, they are very similar. That's why we started creating ambient compositions, simply using trance melodies without a beat. The first such experiment was "Beyond Time", which, as you know, was originally trance. We made a chillout mix out of it and realized it sounded great. This music is taken to heart and penetrates directly into the soul. In different cities we staged it with different rhythms. It has a wonderful chill-out sound to calm down and relax after a party at home.

Have you always wanted to do something with a soft sound or did something inspire you to make this kind of music?
- We have come a certain way to this. Once we played our mix in Ibiza, and the next day we visited places like Cafe Delmar, Mambo Cafe, where we saw, heard and felt a wonderful atmosphere with this music, which inspired us to create ambient tracks.

For beginning composers: tell me, what equipment and programs do you use for creativity?
- We use the Macintosh platform with the Logic program and most additional programs for this platform. (The answer was too vague, they were leaving something out)
